Richard Chamberlain, Pamela Bach, Gene Hackman: All the celebrities who have died in 2025

Aubrey Plaza's husband Jeff Baena tragically took his own life on 3 January 2025. He was mostly known for his films Life After Beth, The Little Hours, and Joshy.

Legendary soul singer Sam Moore, who rose to fame thanks to his duo Sam & Dave, passed away on 10 January 2025. He died of complications after a surgery, at the age of 89. 

On 12 January 2025, American actress Leslie Charleson, mostly known for her role on General Hospital, died of head trauma at the age of 79.

British reality television star and actor Paul Danan, who rose to fame thanks to his appearances on Hollyoaks, passed away on 15 January 2025. He died of a ‘slip and fall’ at his Bristol flat, at the age of 46. 

Iconic director David Lynch, known for his series such as Twin Peaks and films including Mulholland Drive, passed away on 15 January 2025. He died from complications due to an emphysema at the age of 78. 

British comedian Tony Slattery, known for his witty comebacks on Whose Line Is It Anyway? passed away on 15 January 2025. He died of a heart attack at the age of 65.

Legendary sports commentator and comedic actor Bob Uecker died on 16 January 2025, at the age of 90. 

Iconic cartoonist and author Jules Feiffer passed away on 17 January 2025. He died of congestive heart failure at the age of 95. 

On 20 January 2025, it was revealed that electric guitar legend John Sykes, who rose to fame with bands Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy, had passed away the previous month, at the age of 65. He died of cancer. 

Legendary British singer Marianne Faithfull passed away on 30 January 2025, at the age of 78. The As Tears Go By singer had struggled with many health issues in the last few years. 

Irv Gotti, known for his influence as a rap and hip-hop producer, died of a stroke on 5 February 2025, at the age of 54.

Howard Twilley, a former player for the Miami Dolphins, passed away on 5 February 2025. The 81-year-old's cause of death has not been made public by his family. 

Tony Roberts, mostly known for his role as Woody Allen's best friend in Annie Hall, passed away on 7 February 2025, after a long battle against lung cancer. He was 85.

Known for his roles on New Girl and Magnum P.I, among others, Peter Navy Tuiasosopo died of heart complications on 10 February 2025, at the age of 61. 

Biff Wiff, who appeared on Netflix's I Think You Should Leave, as well as Everywhere All At Once, passed away on 14 February, after a long battle against cancer. He was 77.

Alice Hirson, known for her role as Ellen DeGeneres' mother on her eponymous sitcom, died of natural causes on 14 February 2025, at the age of 95.

Candice Bergen's husband, actor Marshall Rose, passed away on 15 February 2025. The 88-year-old passed away due to complications from Parkinson's disease, surrounded by his loved-ones.

On 16 February 2025, legendary Carry On actor Julian Holloway passed away due to a brief illness, according to his agents. The actor was 80. 

Iconic British musician Rick Buckler passed away on 17 February 2025, after a short illness. Known as the drummer for rock band The Jam, Rick Buckler died at the age of 69, surrounded by his family. 

Souleymane Cissé, an award-winning and writer-director from Mali, passed away on 19 February 2025, at the age of 84. His cause of death has not been revealed. 

Soul singer and songwriter Jerry Butler passed away on 20 February 2025. He died of natural causes at the age of 85. 

Prolific actor Peter Jason, who recently appeared on HBO's Deadwood, passed away on 20 February 2025. He died at the age of 80, after a long battle against cancer.

Lynne Marie Stewart passed away on 21 February 2025, at the age of 78. The actress, known for her roles in Pee-Wee's Playhouse and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, died of cancer. 

Voletta Wallace, mother of late rapper Christopher Wallace, known as the Notorious B.I.G, passed away on 21 February 2025. She died of natural causes in a hospice at the age of 78. 

Former member of legendary soul band The Isley Brothers Chris Jasper passed away on 23 February 2025, at the age of 73. He had been battling cancer for a few years. 

Iconic Killing Me Softly singer Roberta Flack passed away on 24 February 2025. In 2022, she revealed she was suffering from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, which prevented her from singing. She died at the age of 88. 

Sha'Vi Lewis was a fashion designer who competed on the 18th series of Project Runway. He died on 24 February 2025, at the age of 38. His cause of death remains a mystery, but his friends explained he is ‘in a much better place’. 

Historic BBC presenter Henry Kelly, mostly known for his work on Going for Gold in the 1980s and 90s, passed away on 25 February 2025, at the age of 78. He died of natural causes. 

Legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found dead in their home, on 26 February 2025. The couple was found in separate rooms, and their bodies were in a state of ‘mummification’. It is unclear when they died. The 95-year-old actor and his 63-year-old wife were first believed to have died of carbon monoxide poisoning, but the option was ruled out by the police. The investigation is still ongoing. 

On 26 February 2025, Michelle Trachtenberg passed away the age of 39. The actress, known for her roles on the shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, had received a liver transplant three months prior to her death. Her cause of death was ruled as ‘undertermined’ but the police believe she died of natural causes, and her family have declined her right to an autopsy. 

Known as the lead singer for the band New York Dolls, which rose to fame in the 1970s, David Johansen died on 28 February 2025. He died at the age of 75 after a long battle against cancer. 

On 1 March 2025, Joey Molland passed away at the age of 77. The last surviving member of Badfinger had been struggling with health issues such as pneumonia over the past few years. 

Legendary R&B singer, known for her hit song Wish I Didn't Miss You, Angie Stone passed away on 1 March 2025. She was killed in a car accident at the age of 63. 

On 3 March, Coronation Street and EastEnders star Kathryn Apanowicz passed away at the age of 64. She was reportedly suffering from a long illness. Her friend shared the news on social media writing: 

'Reunited with her beloved Richard. I will miss you so much my lovely friend. What adventures we had. The world will always be a duller place without you…'

Her husband Richard had passed away in 2005 from heart problems.

Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff announced the passing of his ex-wife Pamela on 5 March 2025. According to the police, the 61-year-old died by suicide, and her daughter Hayley was present at the scene when the police arrived after being called by neighbours.

South Korean singer Wheesung, whose real name was Choi Whee-sung, was found dead at his home on 11 March 2025. The 43-year-old star's cause of death remains a mystery, despite having undergone an autopsy.

South Korean actress Kim Sae-Ron, mostly known for her role on Netflix's Bloodhounds, was found dead at her home on 16 March 2025. The 24-year-old is believed to have taken her own life. 

American boxer George Foreman passed away on 21 March 2025. While his cause of death remains unclear, the 76-year-old passed unexpectedly, as no one believed him to be ill. 

Denis Arndt, known for his roles on Basic Instinct, L.A Law, and Picket Fences, passed away on 25 March 2025. The 86-year-old Tony Award nominee died ‘peacefully’, according to his wife. 

Young Scooter, a rapper from Atlanta, died unexpectedly on his 39th birthday. The rapper passed away on 28 March 2025, after he injured his leg while fleeing from the police, who had been called for a domestic dispute.

Richard Chamberlain sadly passed away on 30 March 2025. The 90-year-old actor was mostly known for his roles on Dr. Kildare and Shogun. He died of complications after a stroke in Hawaii.

At the age of 65, Val Kilmer passed away on 1 April. His main cause of death was revealed as pneumonia, however the report revealed that he was also struggling with other health conditions. 

TMZ obtained his death certificate which divulged that the Top Gun star had been living with a type of cancer that was at the base of his tongue called squamous cell carcinoma. He had also suffered from hypoxemic respiratory failure and chronic respiratory failure. 

The Raiders mourned the loss of John Vella on April 1. The American professional football player died at the age of age 74. The team announced: 

'The Raiders Family mourns the passing of John Vella, a standout on the dominant Raider offensive lines of the 1970s and a starter on Oakland’s Super Bowl XI Championship team.'

Jay North passed away on 6 April at the age of 73. He was a child actor that was famous for playing Dennis in Dennis the Menace. The former star had been struggling with his health for some time, as he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. His friend made the announcement, saying: 

'A life-long friend of Jon's, a brother to Jeanne and a dear friend to me, we will miss him terribly. He is out of pain now. His suffering is over. At last he is at peace.'

On 10 April, Only Fools and Horses actor Mario Ernesto Sánchez passed away at the age of 78. He was struggling with long-term health issues. His agent said: 

‘Mario Ernesto Sánchez died today at 3.03am as a result of a long and painful illness.’

Actress Jean Marsh passed away at the age of 90 on April 13. Known for being the co-creator of Upstairs, Downstairs, she had been diagnosed with dementia and died from its complications.

On April 15, Danny Dearden's manager Denise Beighton confirmed that the X Factor contestant had passed away at the young age of 34. She said: 

'Heartbroken to wake up to the news that you're gone. I have no words right now, rest easy beautiful boy.'

Beighton's agency revealed that the died 'peacefully after a long illness’, but no further details are known.

At the young age of 24, child actor Sophie Nyweide passed away on April 19. She was most famously known for her roles in films like Mammoth and Noah. Her family announced the devastating news. They said: 

‘Sophie was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, friend and new aunt. Creative, athletic and wise beyond her years, Sophie accomplished so much in the time she danced upon earth (literally - she danced as she moved!).’

Her family have not released any further details, however it has been reported that she found dead on a riverbank in Vermont. An investigation into her death was launched, and a cause of death has yet to be determined.

On 21 April, Pope Francis passed away after a period of health struggles. He died just one month after he was discharged from the hospital. He was getting treatment for pneumonia. His official cause of death has been revealed as a stroke and cardiac arrest, as per a statement from the Vatican. The pope was 88 years old. 

On 23 April, NFL legend Steve McMichael passed away at the age of 67. He was suffering from ALS, a neurodegenerative disease also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. 

McMichael had been diagnosed in 2021 and his condition rapidly deteriorated. Towards the end of his life he was bedridden. His wife revealed that before his death, he had been ‘unresponsive for two weeks and in and out of the hospital.’  

On 25 Aprile, Coronation Street star Philip Lowrie passed away at the age of 88. The actor was renowned for playing the role of Dennis Tanner. He first came on the show in 1960, took a very very long break from 1968 to 2010 and came back on the show in 2011. 

His character was eventually killed off in 2014. 

New York Nicks legend Dick Barnett died peacefully in his sleep on 27 April. The former athlete was 88 years old.
