In a recent video, Trump appeared to entertain a conspiracy theory that Biden may have been ‘executed’ in 2020 and replaced with a double. At the same time, he has authorised a formal investigation into Biden's cognitive state during his time in office. As Biden faces advanced prostate cancer and ongoing scrutiny over his health, Trump's claims and actions raise questions about political strategy, leadership transparency, and election-year tactics. Here's a closer look at what Trump said and what it could mean.

Trump fuels conspiracy theory: Is Biden dead?

During a campaign stop, Donald Trump appeared to suggest that Joe Biden may have been ‘executed’ in 2020. In a clip circulated by NBC News, Trump said:

That’s not Biden. It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? They say he was actually executed. I don’t know if this is true.

He continued:

That’s what they’re saying. I don’t know if it’s true. I don’t know. Should we put it out?

The statement, though cloaked in layers of denial, effectively promoted a conspiracy theory claiming that Biden had been replaced by a body double.

This moment was captured on video and widely shared, raising eyebrows across the political spectrum.

Trump orders probe into Biden's mental health while in office

Not content with conspiratorial remarks, Trump has followed through with formal action. As reported by the BBC, Trump has ordered an investigation into Joe Biden's actions during his presidency. He accused White House aides of orchestrating a 'conspiracy' to deceive the American public about Biden's 'cognitive decline'.

Central to this claim is the use of an autopen – a mechanical device that replicates signatures and is commonly used by presidents, including Trump himself. Trump now claims this was used to obscure Biden's declining health. In his statement, Trump said:

This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history.

Biden, in response, did not mince words. He stated:

This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history.
Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation and proclamations.

Any suggestion that I didn't is ridiculous and false.

The ordered investigation seeks testimony from Biden’s former aides, including his first chief of staff. Trump and his allies aim to uncover who was 'really' making decisions in Biden's White House. According to the BBC, Trump insisted the American public had been 'purposefully shielded from discovering who wielded the executive power.'
