Danny Dyer’s Cheat axed by Netflix after the first series

The former EastEnders actor hosted Cheat with Ted Lasso actress Ellie Taylor after quitting the soap last year. The first series aired in March and was expected to continue further, however, it is understood that Netflix has axed the show.

A TV insider told The Sun:

Danny was great as host, as was Ellie, but Netflix thought one series was just about right.

Hinting at the possible reason behind the axe, the source added:

It didn’t pick up a big following and will hardly go down in game show folklore. He enjoyed making the series, especially banking the pay cheque.

Cheat was a new quiz show that rewards both brains and blaggers. Contestants attempted to win £50,000 by cheating their way through the game and tried to avoid getting caught out by rival players.

What's next for Danny Dyer?

Danny is now waiting to hear if his E4 travel series he co-hosts with daughter Dani will be recommissioned.
He has also been a host of other game shows like BBC’sThe Wall and MTV's True Love or True Lies.

After quitting EastEnders, Danny also entered the world of drama with Channel 5 thriller Heat. He revealed that after EastEnders he was scared of not getting any work, but things have worked out for him to some extent. Danny told RadioTimes:

It was more the fear of not really getting any work after EastEnders. Not going to lie, it came quite early…
I knew that my contract was ending and I couldn't believe that this job had presented itself to me because, as much as I'd made this huge decision to leave EastEnders and it was the right decision for me for sure, there was no guarantee that I was going to walk straight out and get a job.
I didn't quite know what the new chapter was going to bring and so, this job I had in place to really help with my transition out of EastEnders was my first acting job. It was so soon, literally a day.

Danny is now waiting for more projects to fall in his lap.
