2019 seems to be a busy year for Disney, between the releases of Toy Story 4 scheduled for the summer, and the live action versions of many classics like Aladdin, whose first photos were recently unveiled, and the Lion King which blew us all away with a great trailer! It is now the turn of the Hunchback of Notre Dame to be adapted in live action.

From book to animation and finally to live action
Released in 1996, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of the greatest Disney classics, adapted from Victor Hugo’s novel Notre-Dame de Paris published in 1831. On January 17th, 2019, the magazine Deadline unveiled that the House of Mouse is working on the live action adaptation of Disney’s 48th feature film, which is considered one of the studio’s best works.
A 5-star team
The actor Josh Gad will have a very important role in this adaptation, since he will be responsible for the production of the film, in addition to taking on the role of Quasimodo. He was also in another Disney live action adaptation, that of the Beauty and the Beast in which he played LeFou. As for music, Alan Menken will collaborate with lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who also wrote the music for the animated version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Remember that Alan Menken has won many awards for his work in Aladdin and The Little Mermaid to name a few. As for the screenplay, David Henry Hwang will take care of the writing of the film, he has also written some episodes of the series The Affair.
