Rice and repeat

Many irregularly shaped items in the kitchen are tough to clean with a standard sponge and soap. And in the case of delicate material, a wired brush can spoil the product. Simply fill it with a small amount of soap, water, and rice. Go a little back and forth with your hand while rubbing the solution. This friction caused by the rubbing of rice cleans the item while still being relatively gentle on the material.

Overnight it

A cup of baking soda and a spray bottle filled with white vinegar is all you need to clean your oven. First, clean out the oven of any loose debris, such as burnt food particles. Then, spritz the inside of the oven with vinegar and sprinkle some baking soda on the oven floor, walls, and door. Simply leave it alone for the night as it fizzes and foams. You will then wake up to an oven full of dissolved dirt that you can wipe clean in the morning.

Dryer sheets

For dusting, you can use used dryer sheets. Their primary purpose is to prevent static electricity in clothing, so your shelves and furniture will also benefit. Because static electricity causes the dust to settle, you'll be removing a significant aspect from the equation. For extra shine, put some olive oil on the sheet when you wipe it.

Sock it up

Old socks work as a microfiber cloth substitute. You may reuse old ripped socks as dust cloths if you have any lying around the house. Wear it like a glove and clean hard-to-reach areas like blinds, window corners, and within small shelves. They are highly absorbent and will prevent spills from damaging your furniture.

Carpet friendly

To remove tough carpet stains, you need paper towels, cornstarch or baking soda, a vacuum cleaner, dishwashing liquid, a soft-bristled brush, and a clean cloth. First, wipe the area with a paper towel to remove any excess. Then absorb the excess moisture with baking soda or cornstarch. Spread it all over the stain and leave it to work for about half an hour. Then use a vacuum cleaner to remove the powder. If the discolouration persists, use rubbing alcohol directly to the affected area.

Caffeinate it

Coffee is an excellent all-purpose cleaner, but it should be used with caution because it can discolour surfaces and peel paint. You can clean the sink and drain or pour it down the pipe to eliminate odours. Coffee can also be used to substitute several detergents and air fresheners, leaving your home clean and smelling fresh. You should avoid using it on anything that is made of wood or other porous materials.
