The former president of the United States, Barack Obama, had a really lovely surprise in store for the children at a hospital in Washington on Wednesday 19th December. Wearing a Santa hat, he gave out presents to the young patients before congratulating the staff in charge of caring for the children, thus spreading joy to people of all ages.

After doing his rounds of the wards and giving a small present to each child and having a chat with them, Barack Obama then decided to thank the nurses, doctors and all other nursing staff.
An acclaimed former president
‘I just want to say thank you to all you guys […] As a dad of two girls, I can only imagine in that situation, to have nurses and staff and doctors and people caring for them, and just there for them and holding their hand, that’s the most important thing there is,’ said the former American president, who received a very warm welcome and even cheers from the staff and the patients.
This visit was filmed and then posted to social media by the children’s hospital. Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, who live in Washington, regularly visit the children during charity campaigns.
