If anyone was ever in doubt about whether stand-up comedy was a difficult career, Channel 4’s recent special for Stand Up To Cancer confirmed that it’s definitely not for everyone. The series saw Katie McGlynn, Reverend Richard Coles, Shaun Ryder, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi and Curtis Pritchard mentored by professional comics before performing their own routines for Stand Up To Cancer.

Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard in particular got a lot of flak from viewers for some of his ‘vulgar’ and ‘unfunny’ jokes which included comparing his ex-girlfriend Maura and the other Love Island girls to cars and said his time in the villa reminded him of working in dog kennels ‘because when the dogs are in season they go crazy, there was bitches running around left, right and centre.’

Discussing his unpopular foray into the world of comedywith his brother AJ on their podcast AJ Vs Curtis, the 2019 Love Islander suggested that Channel 4 had edited out his best jokes. He suggested that the producers of the show had only included the jokes that landed badly in the final edit of his routine.

‘Sorry Channel 4’

Ringing his parents, Curtis ranted:

Mum and Dad, what do you bloomin’ think about this? Because I was watching this on Thursday night and I know I wasn’t the funniest, I know I wasn’t the best but I am telling you I was better than what they showed on that night. Or they just showed the worst bits, sorry Channel 4.

Curtis’ dad Adrian—who like the rest of the family is a professional dancer—backed him up, saying:

I agree with you Curtis and AJ on that, we saw the whole lot and all the jokes may not be everybody's cup of tea but there were some great jokes that were funny but they didn’t want to show them for you Curtis.
