The Climate of Change with Cate Blanchett and Danny Kennedy will be released exclusively on Audible in April and will address the climate catastrophe. The podcast, which has already been commissioned for two seasons, will feature Cate and her co-host interviewing guests.

Cate, the environmentalist

The career shift for Cate was the courtesy of her production firm, Dirty Films. Cate described the podcast as a joyful extension of the long-standing friendship that Dirty Films have had with the brilliant Danny Kennedy. In a statement, she said:

Danny's knowledge about and passion for climate solutions is infectious, and our experience developing this project with the folks at StoryHunter for Audible has been a shot in the arm - and has gone a long way to tempering our eco-anxiety.
We hope that our listeners enjoy hearing the conversations as much as we have enjoyed having them.

It comes after Cate recently acted opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in the Netflix blockbuster Don't Look Up. The comedy film follows a pair of astronomers who correctly forecast the end of the world as a result of a comet colliding with Earth, only to have their predictions dismissed by the wealthy and international leaders.

Cate, the make-up artist

Cate stated last month that coronavirus restrictions stopped her from hiring a make-up artist for Netflix's Don't Look Up, so she made her own artificial teeth and wig. She claimed that she had received items from a previous production and was able to convert herself into TV anchor Brie Evantee with the help of some make-up. She discussed it during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show and said:

Because of Covid, it was very difficult to get anyone to do anything. So I happened to have a set of teeth and a wig from a previous movie. Everything else is make-up and acting!
