Over the years, the tree has thickened around the metal. Now, it looks like this hand is stretching the bark with its fingers... A work that represents the balance of power between man and nature.

'I feel the forest breathing and I hear the slow and inexorable growth of the wood,' wrote Penone in 1968. 'I share my breath with that of the green world around me, I feel the tree flowing around the hand that I placed on the trunk.'
