It's Official: Having A Pet IS Good For Your Health

Cute, fluffy, and always there for us - we all love our pets, don't we? But did you know that several studies have shown that there are actually many health benefits to owning a pet!

You may love your furry friend a lot, but you probably weren't aware of how much of an impact they can have on your health.

Allergies

According to one study, kids who grow up in a home with furry pets like cats or dogs may be less likely to have allergies. This could be because having a pet around helps them build a stronger immune system.

Finding love

Pets can also help you find love. You see plenty of people out and about every day but it's not always easy to start up a conversation with someone you don't know. Pets are great conversation starters and having your dog with you will give you the perfect excuse to get chatting to that cute stranger in the park.

Walking

All that walking is good for you too! Having a dog means you’ll have motivation to go out for regular exercise. Walking regularly will help you keep in shape, and can help prevent heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure as well as strengthening your muscles.

Mental health

Pets are also great for your mental health. Playing with a pet can increase levels of the stress-reducing hormone oxytocin, making you feel much more relaxed. Pets also provide vital companionship, especially for older people.
