1. Change the rings: Who said that wedding rings have to be gold with diamonds? Swapping out your wedding rings for fashion jewelry is a perfect idea for those on a budget. They still can be used in the ceremony and could be replaced with a precious stone at a later date.
2. What about vintage wedding outfits?: For the wedding outfits, a princess dress and a three piece suit aren't compulsory. Try looking in second-hand clothes shops, you'll be surprised at the gems you can find!
3. Look for a free venue: When you're planning a wedding on a budget the venue is often the tipping point. Try to find somewhere you could have free of charge such as a family home or a lake edge but make sure you're legally allowed to set up there first. Don't forget to hire a marquee and a power generator if you're planning on having an outdoor wedding.
4. Your guest list: Don't give in to pressure from your family to invite people you don't know. It's your wedding after all! Limiting the number of guests is important when on a budget, it's better to be surrounded by your loved ones, even if it is only a few of them.
5. Personalise your decorations: Try to make your decorations simple yet effective. Having a rustic theme is perfect if you want a buffet and adding some wild flowers creates a beautiful effect. To make the decorations stand out colourful balloons and garlands are a cheap option.
6. Have a wedding picnic or brunch: If you're tight on money, you could opt to not have a caterer. Instead you could have a 'bring and share' picnic where each person brings some food and drink. The brunch version is also a nice idea.
7. Use who you know: You must have some amateur photographers and DJs on your guest list. Put them in charge of the photos and the party. They'd be happy to give you this as their gift.
8. Electronic invites: In our digital era why not send your wedding invites by email or on social media? Avoid the printing costs and still have it as personalised as you'd like. You may still need to make a few paper invites though for the less technologically savvy guests.
9. At home makeover: Your hair and make-up on your wedding day are obviously very important but professionals often come at a high price. Ask your friends if they can help you to get ready. For cheap, you could put feathers or rhinestones in your hair.
10. Economise on alcohol: Vintage wine and champagne aren't in budget? Try buying quality wine or sparkling wine by the barrel that you can pour into a decanter before the big day and save yourself a lot of money.
