1. Sleeping pattern: Whilst a newborn of one month old sleeps between 16 and 20 hours a day, it is unfortunately - for the parents - not all in one go! Although sleep allows your child to perfect their development, it must necessarily be interspersed with feeds.

However, at the beginning of their existence, the baby absolutely does not know the difference between day and night. In other words, they will wake you up every 2 or 3 hours to eat. It will be necessary to wait until the end of the first month so that the circadian cycle begins to start its rhythm.

In any case, it is important to always put baby on their back and, especially, not to cover them with a sheet or blanket to limit the risk of suffocation. At this age, your child must sleep in a baby sleep sack.

2. Weight of a one-month-old baby: From the first days after birth, newborns must grow to gain strength after childbirth, which is, in itself, an intense physical challenge for both mother and baby.

Whether breastfed or bottle-fed, a newborn baby must follow an ascending weight curve. It is also from the first weeks that we begin to note differences in weight between the sexes, since at one month, a girl should weigh between 2.8 kg and 4.6 kg and a boy between 3 kg and 5 kg.

At this age, the baby should eat between 6 and 9 times a day depending on how they are feeding. On average, each food intake is between 90 ml and 120 ml. Of course, the volume of milk must sometimes be adapted, on medical advice, to the appetite and size of the newborn.

3. Size of a one-month-old: A baby who eats well is a baby who must grow! On average, girls are between 48.5 and 55 cm, while boys are between 49 and 55 cm. In their first month, your baby will grow at a high speed. With a weight gain of about 30g a day, they are growing at an impressive rate, so it is not always easy to find clothes with good measurements.

Generally, size 0, or newborn size, does not last more than a few days. Very quickly, new parents are forced to move to 1 month, or, for some newborns, directly to 2 months. It's therefore not advisable to invest too much in buying pretty clothes for newborns. Many parents share or loan newborn clothes.
