A young woman did an incredible experiment - she took pictures at home and then in 11 different fitting rooms. The colour of the background, the angle of the mirror, and especially the lighting gives a totally different result each time. These glaring differences could probably explain why we often buy things we've tried on in-store only to realizse they don't look quite the same when we leave the shop.
